Boston-based Boston University offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Hospitality Administration and a combination B.S. in Hospitality Administration/Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy, which is offered in conjunction with Metropolitan College. The B.S. in Hospitality Administration combines classroom instruction and more than 800 hours of fieldwork experience, giving students the skills and experience necessary for employment in hospitality management and leadership positions. The program teaches students managerial, communication and marketing skills, as well as the human resources concepts necessary to maintain successful hospitality enterprises. Courses include food service management, hospitality leadership, financial and accounting concepts, hospitality law and revenue management.
The B.S. in Hospitality Administration/Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy is a 4+1 program that includes courses in the history of food, food and the senses, and the anthropology of food. While at Boston University and before enrolling in Metropolitan College, students complete coursework for the B.S. in Hospitality Administration and additional courses in hospitality leadership and hospitality strategic marketing.
Cape Cod Community College
Students at West Barnstable's Cape Cod Community College can pursue an Associate in Science in Business Administration with a concentration in hospitality management. Required courses include food service sanitation, hospitality marketing, business law and professional cooking fundamentals. The program is 2 years in length and prepares students to work in a supervisory or middle-management position in the hospitality field.
Endicott College is a 4-year, private, not-for-profit college that offers an associate's degree in hospitality management at its Boston campus and a hospitality management bachelor's degree at its Beverly campus. In the B.S. program, students can choose a concentration in events management, international hospitality or senior community management, and they complete internships during their freshman, sophomore and senior years. Other courses include foundations of hospitality management, rooms division management and hospitality sales and marketing. Students get hands-on experience at the college's La Chanterelle restaurant in Beverly and complete a senior thesis project as well.
Holyoke Community College
Located in Holyoke, Holyoke Community College offers an Associate of Science in Hospitality Management and a Hospitality Management Certificate. The 2-year degree program includes courses ranging from accounting and human resource management to banquet cooking and service, food and beverage operations and cooperative education in hospitality. The certificate program includes courses in human resource management, lodging operations and customer service. Many, if not all of these courses, may be completed online.
Massachusetts Bay Community College
Wellesley Hills' Massachusetts Bay Community College offers an Associate in Science in Hospitality Management and a Hospitality Management Certificate. The 2-year associate degree program exposes students to a range of topics in hospitality management - from marketing and business office management to food and beverage management. Students also complete an internship. In the 1-year certificate program, students earn 22 credits in courses like food and beverage management, hospitality and business computer applications. Students complete an internship in this program as well.
Massasoit Community College
Brockton-based Massasoit Community College offers an Associate of Science in Hospitality Management. The 2-year degree program includes courses in tourism management, conference and event planning, financial accounting and managerial communications. SafeServ certification is also part of this program.
North Shore Community College
At the Lynn campus of North Shore Community College, students can pursue an Associate of Science in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.
