San Antonio Schools for Human Resources Degrees

- Students at Our Lady of the Lake University, a Catholic school about four miles from downtown, benefit from small class sizes and expertise in the Mexican-American culture. It offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Human Resources and a minor option in human resources.
- About 16 miles from the city center, at The University of Texas at San Antonio, human resources students earn their degrees at the largest business school in the University of Texas system. It offers a BBA in Human Resources Management.
- About 50 miles from San Antonio, Texas State University - San Marcos offers the area's only graduate-level programs in human resources. Its program offerings include a BBA in Management with Human Resources Concentration, a Master of Science (MS) in Human Resource Management and a Master of Business Administration with Human Resource Management Emphasis.

BBA in Human Resources Management
The BBA in Human Resources Management calls for 120 semester hours, which typically take four years to complete. General education courses in subjects including English, economics and natural science are required, as is a computer literacy requirement. Human resources management majors complete a general course in the principles of the field as well as courses in compensation administration and hiring and training methods. An internship is optional.
Minor in Human Resources Management
Students who aren't business majors can choose to minor in human resources management. The minor consists of 21 semester hours, including courses in economics and accounting. Students take three courses in human resources management, choosing from principles of human resources management, compensation administration, organizational behavior, industrial relations and personnel hiring and training.
The University of Texas at San Antonio
The University of Texas at San Antonio offers a bachelor's degree in human resource management through the Department of Management in the College of Business. The curriculum is planned to teach students the basics of business leadership as well as the fundamentals of human resources management.
BBA in Human Resource Management
In this 120-semester credit hour program, human resource management majors complete core curriculum courses including math, economics and English. As business students, they must take fundamental courses such as accounting, business law, information systems and algebra with business calculus. Human resource management students need 24 hours of major courses that may include labor relations, hiring, compensation, human resource law and current topics in human resource management. Students also have the option to complete an internship.
Texas State University
In both the bachelor's and master's programs at the McCoy College of Business Administration, human resources management students learn through classroom work and experiential studies, which can include trips abroad and internships.
BBA in Management, Concentration in Human Resources
In this 120-semester hour program, students must complete general education requirements in courses such as English, math and natural science. They also are required to take 39 hours of business courses, including courses in marketing, business law and accounting. After completing a course in general human resources management, students can choose three courses from topics including staffing, training, compensation and employment law. They can also choose an internship for credit.
MS in Human Resource Management
Applicants to the MS program must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and an acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). This degree program is designed for working students, with most classes offered in the evenings. Students must complete 30 credit hours - 18 hours of core courses and 12 hours of elective courses. The core courses include a seminar in human resource management as well as classes in staffing and international human resource management. Election options include business ethics, communication and cross-cultural management. Students may be able to obtain an internship for credit.
MBA with Human Resource Management Emphasis
MBA classes are offered on Monday through Thursday evenings. Admission requirements include a bachelor's degree, GMAT scores, letters of recommendation and essays. The degree program consists of 45 credit hours of coursework. Courses include marketing management, statistics for business and organizational behavior. Electives may include courses in managing organizational change, compensation and the employment relationship.
