Programs at Kansas City Kansas Community College

KCKCC offers two types of CNA technical certificate programs: one for high school students and one for high school graduates. The Certified Nurse Aide program is available through the Division of Allied Health and Nursing, which also offers nursing, pre-nursing and technical programs.

CNA Technical Certificate

In addition to classroom instruction, the CNA programs incorporate fieldwork assignments in clinical settings to provide students with practical experience in the nursing industry. Both CNA programs prepare students for the Kansas CNA examination. The high school program is seven credits, while the program for high school graduates is five credits. The course examines concepts in aging, working in adult care, observing, recording and first aid.

Programs at Johnson County Community College

The nursing programs are available through the health science academic cluster at JCCC, along with other nursing occupations like LPN, RN and home health aide. Students have the option of completing the course in a traditional or online setting.

CNA Certificate

Both the traditional and online CNA certificate programs are five credit hours and prepare students to take the Kansas CNA examination. The programs provide hands-on instruction on how to care for patients in long-term and acute-care facilities. Students are instructed on topics such as hygiene, chronic illnesses and bedside care.
