Las Vegas Continuing Education Programs with School Info
A dense concentration of colleges and universities and the urban center's need for a well-trained workforce make Las Vegas continuing education options numerous. The University of Las Vegas (UNLV) and College of Southern Nevada have developed continuing education programs for adult students.
University of Las Vegas - Nevada's Continuing Education Programs
UNLV's Educational Outreach division makes educational opportunities available to nontraditional students, including seniors, members of the military and working adults. Adult students can complete undergraduate degrees, earn business certificates, take computer classes and receive job training.
Print Design
Certificate programs in basic or advanced print design are available to adult students without previous graphic design training. The advanced print design curriculum includes additional required courses in level-two Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as 13 hours of electives or workshops.
Internet Design and Technology
Two tracks are available in this professional certificate program, Web and multimedia design. Core courses applicable to both tracks cover, among other topics, HTML development, image editing programs and portfolio refinement.
Paralegal and Paralegal Specialist
The intensive, 16-week paralegal program provides skill-based training in all aspects of the profession, including discovery preparation and coordination, legal research and courtroom rules. In addition, about a dozen paralegal specialist certificates may be earned in areas like bankruptcy, criminal and employment law.
Professional Wine/Sommelier Certifications
Intermediate and advanced certificate programs, lasting 8 and 13 weeks, as well as a 2-year diploma program are offered by the International Sommelier's Guild at UNLV. Wine-making and wine regions with an emphasis on customer service skills are the primary areas of study.
Public Relations
Taught by professionally accredited public relations professionals, the public relations program consists of six core courses and four electives. Required courses include media relations, ethics and writing for public relations.

College of Southern Nevada's Continuing Education Programs
In 2005 the College of Southern Nevada created the Division of Workforce and Economic Development. Part of the division's mission is to extend adults in Las Vegas and the surrounding communities opportunities for personal and career growth through continuing education programs. Adult literacy, ESL and GED preparation classes are offered.
Computer Skills for the Workplace
Using a hands-on approach, this program provides adults with short-term computer training in basic skills. Navigating the Internet, using email and word processing programs are some of the fundamentals addressed.
Welding
The Division of Workplace and Economic Development offers welding certification courses developed according to the American Welding Society's standards. Completion of the 40-hour program confers certification in the metal inert gas (MIG) method of welding, and the 80-hour program certifies graduates in tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding.
Bail Agent Pre-Licensing and Bail Enforcement
The 8-hour pre-licensing and 40-hour bail enforcement courses are required by the state of Nevada for bail and bail enforcement agents. In addition to providing on-site initial training in Nevada's extensive bail regulations, continuing education for bail agents is offered online.
Patient Care Dialysis Technician
Dialysis technicians are required to have national certification. This program, based on the standards of the National Association for Nephrology Technicians, prepares graduates to pass the certification exam. Courses include lecture classes, labs and practical clinical experiences.
Health Unit Coordinator
In this intensive 7-week course, students study medical terminology, communications strategies, patient transfer and interdepartmental coordination, among other topics. Clinical experience, in addition to lectures and labs, prepare graduates for the national certification exam.
