LPN Schools in Florida with Certification Overviews
Several schools in Florida offer licensed practical nursing (LPN) training programs. These programs are primarily at the certificate level. LPN studies are typically found at community colleges, two of which are profiled in the following article.
Schools and Programs
Florida residents seeking to enter a LPN program must meet admission requirements that could include CPR certification. Certificate programs generally consist of coursework, lab exercises and clinical rotations in hospitals or other healthcare environments. This certificate can be earned in one year. These studies are designed to prepare graduates to national LPN licensing exams. Once they are licensed, graduates can seek positions in hospitals, medical clinics, private practices, nursing home facilities and related workplaces. Details about two of Florida's largest 2-year colleges offering LPN programs, both of which have multiple campuses in and around Jacksonville and Miami, appear below.
Florida State College at Jacksonville's LPN Program
Florida State College at Jacksonville, previously known as Florida Community College at Jacksonville, serves more than 80,000 students each year. The college's workforce development program is the largest in Florida. The practical nursing certificate program is offered through Florida Coast Career Tech, a division of Florida State College.
