There are no not-for-profit schools in the Atlanta area that offer training programs specifically in make-up application; however, two schools within 35 miles of downtown offer make-up classes within their cosmetology diploma programs. Atlanta Technical College
In order to enter into the cosmetology program at this school, students must have a GED or a high school diploma and be at least 16 years old.
To complete this cosmetology diploma program's curriculum, students take 54 to 55 credit hours of courses. Basic skills requirements must be fulfilled by taking courses in mathematics, English and interpersonal relations or psychology. From there, the technical classes of the program go over cosmetology theory, hair coloring, styling, haircutting, nail care and chemical texture services. In the skin care fundamentals class, students learn about make-up application, as well as facials, skin conditions and hair removal.
Chattahoochee Technical College
The main campus of Chattahoochee Technical College is located in Marietta, but courses (including some of the cosmetology classes) are offered in seven additional locations in the area. The school has a 93.75% job placement rate for graduates of the cosmetology program.
In this school's cosmetology diploma program, students take introductory courses in cosmetology theory and computers. From there, the program's curriculum moves onto topics like nail care, hair care and treatment, hair cutting and hair color. Make-up application is studied in the skin care class. In addition, students must take general core courses in psychology or interpersonal relationships, mathematics and English.
