Ultrasound Programs in Michigan

Typically, diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) programs provide ultrasound courses. While Michigan does not require sonography or ultrasound professionals to be licensed, certification and completing an accredited DMS program may be beneficial for employment. One organization, the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), provides certification specialty exams for DMS and cardiac sonographers.

Qualifications for ARDMS certification exams differ; some students may become eligible by completing a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited program with no work experience. Other exam candidates need to complete a two-year allied health degree program and have a year of ultrasound work experience. Except for Lake Michigan College, all of the schools listed below offer CAAHEP-accredited programs.
