University of Miami's Nursing Degree Programs

Located just outside out the metropolitan area of Miami, Florida, the University of Miami offers students the opportunity to complete a variety of nursing degree programs. Bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs provide students with the skills necessary to enter the work force or to pursue further study in the field.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

One of the few nursing programs in the country that accepts freshman, the university's B.S.N. program requires that students complete general education and health science courses. Classes such as principles of nutrition and pharmacology prepare students to fulfill a number of nursing roles.

Master of Science in Nursing

The School of Nursing and Health Study's M.S.N. degree program prepares students for advanced nursing jobs, such as nurse anesthetist and acute care nurse practitioner. Students benefit from practical, clinical experience at the school's many affiliated health facilities.

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing

The university's Ph.D. program in nursing prepares students for academic and research positions. Students are allowed to choose from concentrations including health disparities and minority health, HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases, and patient safety.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

This practice focused, 1-year degree program provides students with the skills required to implement quality health care systems. Students explore a wide range of advanced nursing topics, such as technology in health care, international health and health care management.

Florida Atlantic University's Nursing Degree Programs

Located in Boca Raton on Florida's southeastern coast, Florida Atlantic University offers a variety of nursing programs through its Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. Undergraduate and graduate programs are available, including a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Before entering the university's B.S.N. degree program, students must have either completed 60 hours of undergraduate coursework or earned an associate's degree in nursing. The curriculum covers such topics as general pathophysiology, pharmacotherapeutics and technological caring in nursing situations.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

This B.S.N. degree program is designed for students who already hold undergraduate degree sand would like to become registered nurses. The intensive, 1-year program includes classroom coursework and several hours of clinical work each week.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

This advanced degree program prepares students to serve in a wide range of nursing leadership roles. Emphasis is placed on the importance of evaluating nursing practice models, and candidates are introduced to topics like population based caring and emerging therapies of care.
