The Master of Occupational Therapy program is offered by the College of Allied Health Sciences, which allows degree candidates to learn alongside physical therapy and nursing students. They also have opportunities to work with community outreach programs like the Memphis Interdisciplinary School Project.
Master of Occupational Therapy
Students in the occupational therapy program spend 18 months taking courses in such areas as neurobiology, biomechanics and leadership development. They also learn best practices for working with children, adults and seniors. The program culminates in 9 months of fieldwork.
Prospective occupational therapy students must complete their application by March 1st. Other required documents include recommendations, verification of observational or volunteer experiences, transcripts, GRE scores and a personal statement. Students may begin the graduate curriculum after completing 90 units of pre-professional education at the University of Tennessee's College of Arts and Sciences in Knoxville.
