Online Bachelor Degree in Spanish with Curriculum Overviews
Because most undergraduate college-level Spanish programs incorporate a great deal of student-teacher interaction as students learn the language, online bachelor's degree programs in Spanish are rare. However, institutions are starting to offer Spanish courses from on-campus programs, beginning with first-year Spanish.
Online Bachelor's Degree in Spanish
Most on-campus bachelor's degree programs in Spanish include multiple courses necessitating student-teacher interaction. Courses of this nature include pronunciation and comprehension practice. Additionally, some schools require that students study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country to better hone their language skills. Despite the use of video conferencing and streaming video, criteria for most bachelor's degree programs in Spanish cannot currently be met through online study.
However, institutions are beginning to offer individual Spanish courses (part of a degree program) online. Generally, they are first year courses, but as technology improves, additional courses are added.
Online Spanish Courses
Courses in Spanish make use of online e-learning systems, such as Blackboard. Instructors are able to use the recording option to create audio assignments to test students' comprehension and speaking skills. Students complete the assignment by submitting an audio file. Exams may be completed in the same manner.
To enroll in an online Spanish course, a student needs a computer, Internet access, microphone and headphones. They must also possess the abilities to use an online teaching system, send e-mail and files and access various websites as required.
Students enrolled in an online introductory Spanish course hone their skills in writing, reading, speaking and comprehension. They complete online exercises from various learning websites. Students increase their Spanish vocabulary and learn basic grammar rules. By the end of the course, graduates are able to carry on a basic conversation and read introductory texts in Spanish. In addition, they become familiar with the Spanish culture.
Online second-year Spanish classes help student increase their Spanish communication and reading skills. They develop the abilities to converse about many topics. Coursework include topics in advanced grammar, such as reflexive verbs and various verb tenses. Students investigate a variety of Spanish cultures in different regions of the world by listening to Spanish music.
