Where Can I Find Online Calculus Classes and Descriptions?
Many college and university students, including those who study science, engineering and economics, take calculus classes. In many cases, these courses may be offered via the Web. Some schools offer their online courses free of charge, though these courses don't award college credit of any kind. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is one such school, offering online calculus courses, such as single-variable calculus, multivariable calculus and calculus theory through its OpenCourseWare program. Online Calculus Class Descriptions
Online calculus courses are delivered in varying formats from different colleges, though many are taught by the same staff and offer the same curricula offered in on-campus programs. As stated above, stand-alone calculus classes are offered online, some for no credit and others for credits towards a degree or certificate program. Introduction to Calculus
An introductory calculus course generally introduces students to the techniques for exponential and circular functions, differentiation, anti-differentiation and the Riemann integral. These online calculus classes teach students to find centers and moments of mass, represent functions as power series, and use space and plane vectors for physics and geometry applications.
Advanced Calculus
Advanced online calculus courses review what was learned in the introductory class and then expounds on this knowledge, incorporating various techniques of integration, polar coordinates, infinite series and vector calculus. Students may also be introduced to other advanced calculus functions, such as line and surface integrals, partial differentiations, uniform convergences, multiple integrals and Taylor's formula. There are generally prerequisite courses that are required before a student may enroll in any of the higher-level online calculus classes.
