In addition to standard general education requirements, students take courses that relate directly to paramedic training, including critical trauma care, pediatric care, cardiac life support and medical care. Students must also complete two clinical experiences. These experiences give students an opportunity to make ambulance runs with licensed paramedics and work in hospital emergency rooms. Upon completion of this degree program, students can sit for the EMT-Paramedic certification exam, which is available through the New York State Health Department.
