Physical therapist assistants (PTAs) in North Carolina are required to be licensed. Licensure requires the completion of an approved training program and passing a competency exam. Central Piedmont Community College

Central Piedmont Community College is a 2-year school located in Charlotte, NC, with more than 18,600 enrolled students. Associate of Applied Science - in Physical Therapist Assistant

The physical therapist assistant curriculum prepares students for work in direct patient care under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. Physical therapy assistants are prepared to help prevent physical impairment in patients, as well as other administrative tasks in a physical therapy setting. Coursework includes physiology, human anatomy, consequences of disease and physical therapy treatment. Graduates are eligible for employment in general hospitals, outpatient orthopedic clinics, geriatric health care facilities and rehabilitation centers.

Guilford Technical Community College

Guilford Technical Community College, located in Jamestown, NC, is a 2-year school offering certificates and associate's degrees. This NC college enrolls over 11,000 offers a physical therapist assistant associate's degree program that prepares students to work directly with patients under the supervision and direction of physical therapists.

Associate of Applied Science Degree - Physical Therapist Assistant

This NC school offers a 2-year physical therapist assistant program consisting of one semester of general education prerequisite courses, which can be taken at any college, and a 4-semester physical therapist assistant program. Graduates are eligible and ready to take the national licensure examination administered by the NC Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Graduates may work in hospitals, hospices, industrial health centers, fitness centers and education centers.
