Located in Austin, Austin Community College District offers a 71-credit Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA). This program is designed to prepare students to sit for and successfully pass the national licensure exam. This is a two-year program that requires students complete a handful of prerequisites before taking major-specific coursework, including human anatomy, introduction to physical therapy, medical terminology, and English composition. Throughout the duration of the program students will take courses such as human physiology, communication in health care, physical agents, and rehabilitation techniques. Students must also complete several clinical experiences, mainly in the final semester of the program.

Blinn College

Brenham-based Blinn College offers a competitive associate-level PTA program that incorporates general education classes with coursework within the major to provide students with the knowledge and training to seek employment in the physical therapy field. This program integrates lectures, labs, and several practical experiences to provide students with a well-balanced education. South Texas College

McAllen's South Texas College offers an associate-level PTA program through the Nursing and Allied Health Center that is designed for full-time students who are interested in working in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, or outpatient clinics under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.
