Wayne State University is the largest school in the Detroit area that offers psychology degree programs. The school has more than 40 full-time faculty and more than 200 graduate students. Located within the city of Detroit, University of Detroit Mercy is a private school that offers the most psychology degrees of all area schools. The University of Michigan - Dearborn is a public school that offers one undergraduate and one graduate degree in psychology. Unlike the two other schools, the university is located just outside of Detroit.

Degrees at Wayne State University

Wayne State offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology. The degrees are offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and include research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. The psychology department also offers an honors program for students who excel in their classes.

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Psychology

Classes in these undergraduate psychology degree programs cover the history and theories of psychology, as well as the application of psychology. Course topics include psychology in the workplace, brain and behavior, developmental psychology, social psychology, research design and research applications. In general, the B.A. and B.S. carry many of the same degree requirements. However, B.S. students take additional science classes outside of the psychology discipline. The school also offers a minor in psychology and minor in health psychology.

Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology

This master's degree gives students the opportunity to understand the role of psychology in the workplace. As part of the degree program, students take classes that cover organization theory, staffing, statistics, job analysis and performance criteria. There is also an opportunity to take part in research studies that focus on industrial/organizational psychology.

Ph.D. in Psychology
