North Carolina State University at Raleigh

North Carolina State University (NCSU) offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate and first professional degree programs. Almost 70% of NCSU's faculty is involved in sponsored research and approximately 2,500 students are supported by research grants. With research expenditures totaling nearly $325 million every year, NCSU currently ranks third amongst public universities without medical schools in industry-sponsored research spending.

Globally recognized for technology, engineering, science and mathematics leadership, NCSU is consistently ranked in the nation's top 50 public universities by publications such as The Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report. NC State comprises ten schools and colleges along with its First Year College and graduate school.

Wake Technical Community College

Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech) is a 2-year public institution offering over 150 academic, vocational and technical programs of study. The school awards certificates, diplomas and associate degrees and also provides continuing education courses.

With an annual enrollment of more than 65,000 students at all campuses and through Web-based and distance education programs, Wake Tech is the second-largest community college in North Carolina. Other features of the school include a student government association, a student-produced newspaper and an athletics program that is a Division I member of the National Junior College Athletics Association.

Duke University

Known for its Gothic architecture, Duke is a large, private, 4-year university that offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral and professional degree programs. Duke traces its history back to its original name of Trinity College, which was founded by Quakers and Methodists.

In U.S. News and World Report's 2010 list of the best national universities, Duke came in tenth. The highly regarded Duke University Medical Center contains one of 40 federally funded comprehensive cancer centers. The percentage of student returning after freshman year at Duke is 97% and the graduation rate in four years is 95%.
