Five miles to the west of Rancho Cordova sits American River College (ARC), a 2-year community college that is part of Sacramento's Los Rios Community College District. The Sacramento campus of the California State University system, known locally as Sac State, is the second-largest public college in close proximity to Rancho Cordova; it's located about nine miles west of the city. Sacramento State is also the sixth-largest of California's state universities, with a 300-acre campus. Sacramento City College
A 2-year public community college, Sacramento City College (SCC) is part of the Los Rios Community College District. Founded in 1916 as part of Sacramento High School, SCC is the oldest community college in Sacramento.
