Students learn the process of planning effective product distribution and discuss methods of transportation and traffic management techniques. Other topics covered in introductory Logistics classes may include inventory control, protective packaging and customer service.
Inventory Management Class Overview
Inventory management Logistics classes teach students how to plan and control inventories for product distribution. Students learn the differences between inventories of raw materials, works-in-progress and finished goods and become familiar with forecasting and scheduling techniques. Logistics classes in inventory management also help students build important skills such as recognizing inventory dysfunctions, determining how much inventory to carry and protecting inventory from harm.
International Logistics Class Overview
International Logistics classes familiarize students with the international rules, regulations and requirements of importing and exporting goods. Students learn about customs, free trade zones and the tariff system; classes also discuss potential terrorist threats. In addition to learning about the various modes of transportation available for international trading, international Logistics classes also discuss the role of government in the global economy and the role of Logistics in global business. After completing international Logistics classes, students will be prepared to effectively manage international importing and exporting operations.
