Essential Information

In South Carolina, students interested in studying residential design will need to enroll in a bachelor's degree program in general interior design. Courses examine relevant topics such as materials and textiles, kitchen and bath design, lighting, interior construction and space planning. Computer-aided design is also covered. Before beginning their sophomore year, students may be required to submit their portfolio for review. Students can gain practical skills and network with peers by completing an internship experience or joining their college's student club for aspiring interior designers.
