Restaurant Business Management Schools in North Carolina

Students in North Carolina who want to work in restaurant management can pursue certificates, diplomas and associate degrees at several community colleges in the state. Restaurant management programs teach students about food production, purchasing and management. Opportunities may also be available to gain some practical experience in a real world setting through an internship or practicum. Restaurant management education and training may also be offered through hospitality management programs at some schools in the state.

Asheville - Buncombe Technical Community College

Asheville - Buncombe Technical Community College offers a 75-credit Associate in Applied Science in Hospitality Management that prepares students for supervisory positions with restaurants, catering companies and other types of dining establishments. Courses cover topics in food and beverage service, restaurant management, facilities management, event planning, cost control and marketing. Students are also required to complete a co-op work experience. 

Carteret Community College

Located in Morehead City, Carteret Community College features hospitality management programs at the certificate, diploma and associate degree level. The 16-credit restaurant management certificate includes courses in food and beverage service, restaurant management and cost control. Students enrolled in the hospitality management diploma program are required to complete 38 credits and take courses in restaurant management, cost control, marketing, management and front office procedures. The hospitality management associate degree is 73 credits and combines general education requirements with hospitality and restaurant management courses. 

Central Piedmont Community College

Central Piedmont Community College is located in Charlotte and offers a 16-credit restaurant management certificate that covers topics in beverage management, food and beverage service, hospitality training, food and beverage controls and hospitality etiquette. Students in the restaurant management diploma program are required to complete 46 credits and complete coursework in cost control, human resource management, management problems, sanitation, food and beverage service and food fundamentals. The hospitality management associate degree is 74 credits and combines coursework in management, food and beverage service and cooperative education. 

Fayetteville Technical Community College

Fayetteville Technical Community College offers a certificate and associate degree that prepares students for a career in restaurant management. The certificate is 17 credits and includes coursework in marketing, sanitation, front office procedures and restaurant management. Credits from the certificate program are transferable to the 71-credit hospitality management associate degree. Courses in the degree program cover topics in human resource management, cost control, marketing, accounting, restaurant management and front office procedures. A co-op work experience is also part of the curriculum. 

Guilford Technical Community College

Located in Jamestown, Guilford Technical Community College has a hospitality management associate degree that can be completed in five semesters. The 72-credit program features courses in food and beverage service, cost control, club and resort management, facilities management, restaurant management, accounting and beverage management. The program also offers students the opportunity to participate in a co-op work experience. 

Nash Community College

Nash Community College is located in Rocky Mount and offers students the opportunity to pursue a restaurant management certificate and hospitality management associate degree. The restaurant management certificate is 12 credits and teaches students about food and beverage service, marketing, restaurant management and sanitation. Students enrolled in the hospitality management associate degree take courses in accounting, human resource management, marketing, sanitation, food and beverage service, menu design and beverage management. Two co-op work experiences are also part of the degree program. 

Sandhills Community College

Sandhills Community College is located in Pinehurst, and students at the school can pursue a hospitality management associate degree. The program is 76 credits and can be completed in five semesters. Students in the program learn about hotel and restaurant accounting, food and beverage service, sanitation, restaurant management, cost control and marketing. Co-op experiences are also part of the curriculum. 

Wake Tech Community College

Located in Raleigh, students at Wake Tech Community College can obtain restaurant management training at the certificate and associate degree level. The restaurant management certificate is 15 credits and includes courses in food and beverage service, human resource management, wine appreciation, beverage management and menu design. The hospitality management associate degree can be completed in 68 credits, and courses ensure students have an understanding of cost control, food and beverage service, accounting, marketing and management.
