San Bernardino provides multiple levels of adult education. The San Bernardino Adult School features academic and recreational courses for the community, as well as English language, high school completion and occupational training for adults. San Bernardino Adult School's Adult Education Programs
The San Bernardino Adult School has served the community with recreational, educational and vocational programs since 1920. High School Completion and GED Preparation Programs
Based on initial assessments, adult students are placed in either pre-GED classes or GED preparation classes, which are available days and evenings. Day, evening and weekend courses are also available, which help adults to earn the required credits and pass the state exit exam to gain a high school diploma.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs
Seven levels of award-winning ESL classes are offered days and evenings at San Bernardino Adult School, which typically focus on community issues and citizenship exam topics. ESL students have access to GED preparation courses, counseling and scholarship opportunities, among other adult school enrollment benefits.
Business Office and Computer Programs
Several job-entry program options are available in this category, including data information clerk, webpage design, accounting clerk, office assistant and receptionist. All of these job programs require adult students to take courses in Microsoft Word software, business communications and office skills.
Medical Education Program
Those interested in seeking entry-level healthcare jobs have several program options, including basic medical academics, medical assistant, home health aide, certified nursing assistant (CNA) and licensed vocational nurse (LVN).
