Located just outside of Boston, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private university that offers degrees through five schools and 30 departments. In 2010, MIT's School of Engineering was ranked the best graduate program in the country by U.S. News and World Report. School of Engineering enrollees can study aeronautics, biological, chemical, electrical, mechanical and computational engineering. 2. Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta

In 2010, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) was ranked the second-best engineering graduate public school by U.S. News and World Report. Georgia Tech's biomedical, industrial, chemical and civil engineering programs consistently rank among the top ten programs by U.S. News and World Report.
