The School of Social Work within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies offers both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW); GSU's social work programs received more than $3 million in grants and professional contracts in 2009. Students pursuing the 4-year BSW program learn about social welfare policies and programs, research methods, human behavior and communication. During the last year of the program, they also participate in a 2-semester internship, working two 8-hour weekly shifts at local community organizations and welfare agencies, or with other related groups.
The MSW program emphasizes the development of community partnerships, through which students participate in field experiences at local social service and public health agencies.
