Popular majors include psychology, accounting, child and adolescent studies, communications, criminal justice and liberal studies. The student population is largely made up of commuters; however, a number of new residential dormitories recently became available.

California State Polytechnic University-Pomona

California State Polytechnic University is just 12 miles west of the mid-sized city of Upland. The school offers primarily undergraduate and graduate degrees in liberal arts and sciences areas, such as hotel and restaurant management, engineering and agriculture.

In total, more than 100 programs of study are available. The school is one of 23 campuses within the California State educational system, and was ranked eighth by U.S. News and World Report in its 2009 'Public Universities-Master's' listing.

Chaffey College

Chaffey College is situated five miles outside of Upland, CA, in the large neighboring city of Rancho Cucamonga near the San Gabriel Mountains. The public college offers occupational, transfer and special interest programs to students seeking associate degrees and vocational certificates in the western San Bernardino county region.

The college provides programs of study through seven different academic schools and colleges in areas that include business and applied technology, mathematics and science, social and behavioral sciences, instructional support, visual, language arts and health science.
