As a research university and liberal arts college, Brandeis is dedicated to the advancement of society and enriching the lives of students. Brandeis is ranked #31 among national universities in America's Best Colleges of 2008 report.

The university's proximity to a metropolitan area affords students excellent accessibility to internship and research opportunities.
Brandeis awards certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees through its five schools. More than 30 percent of students at Brandeis major in economics, and other popular majors include biological sciences, political science, psychology and history. The university also offers a pre-professional program in medicine, and students enjoy small class sizes and a student-to-faculty ratio of just 8:1.
While fraternities and sororities are prohibited on campus, the university has an active student government and more than 270 student organizations. In addition to eight club and intramural sports, the Brandeis Judges athletic teams compete in 21 varsity sports as a member of the N.C.A.A. Division III.
With a 'most selective' admission policy, Brandeis has an acceptance rate of just 36 percent. Typical incoming students have a grade point average of 3.8 and SAT test scores between 1,260 and 1,460.
