Carnegie Mellon University is a private institution located in Pittsburgh. Chartered as a technical school in 1900, the university continues this tradition today with strong programs in computer science and engineering. Among the elite institutions in the nation, Carnegie Mellon ranks 22nd on America's Best Colleges list.

Carnegie Mellon University features a small campus atmosphere with a very active student body. More than 130 campus organizations provide plenty of athletic and recreational opportunities. The university's Oakland neighborhood also allows for easy access to countless libraries, museums, galleries and entertainment venues.

Carnegie Mellon University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs through seven colleges. Carnegie Mellon is home to more than 5,000 undergraduate students. One of the 'most selective' institutions in the nation, the school has a freshman acceptance rate of 34 percent. Incoming students carry a grade-point average of 3.6 and typically have scores in the 1300 to 1490 range on the SAT and the 28 to 32 range on the ACT.
