Georgia Institute of Technology, more popularly known as Georgia Tech, is located on 400 acres in the heart of the capital city of Atlanta. Long-known as a leader in technology, science and economics, Georgia Tech is also one of the nation's leading public research universities. A regular on U.S. News & World Report's list of America's Best Colleges, Georgia Tech currently holds the 35th spot.

In addition to earning top overall honors, Georgia Tech ranked in the top 35 for its programs in business, management information systems, production and operations management, and quantitative analysis and methods. Its engineering programs also ranked among the best in the nation, including the #1 spot for industrial and manufacturing engineering. Other engineering programs ranked in the top 12 and include aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, materials and mechanical.

Students who attend Georgia Tech can earn bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees, as well as study pre-professional programs in law, dentistry, medicine, veterinary science, optometry and pharmacy. In addition to 48 fraternities and sororities, Georgia Tech students can participate in over 360 registered organizations, including honor societies, religious, minority and international organizations, and various student activities.

Individuals who want to attend Georgia Tech will have to compete in a 'more selective' admission process. Only 69 percent of applicants are accepted. Students seeking admission typically have a grade point average of 3.7 and SAT scores between 1,230 and 1,400. Additionally, most students graduate in the top 25 percent of their high school classes.
