Providence College Video Review

Set in the historic city from which it takes its name, Providence College is a private institution founded in the Roman Catholic tradition. Known for its strong liberal arts degree programs, Providence was ranked 2nd among master's programs available in the North by U.S. News & World Report in 2008.

Spiritual and moral development are considered an important aspect of the student experience at Providence College, a school originated by the Dominican Friars religious order. The campus is known for the sense of safety and community it inspires.

Nearly three-quarters of the student body live in university-affiliated housing, and over 130 organizations ensure that people of all interests can find a place at Providence. Strong support for the school's athletic teams in the Big East Conference also adds to the school spirit and solidarity.

Providence College offers over 50 undergraduate and graduate programs and has a very good student-faculty ratio of 12:1 which ensures individual attention that is less common at larger universities. Popular majors among undergraduates include business administration, marketing, history, political science and education.

Providence has an undergraduate student body of over 4,000. Considered a 'more selective' school, the university has a freshman acceptance rate of 48 percent. Incoming students have a grade-point average of 3.5 and typically score in the range of 1100 to 1290 on the SAT and 23 to 28 on the ACT.
