The University of Missouri is located in Columbia, Missouri approximately 125 east of Kansas City. The most popular undergraduate majors are business, communications, education, engineering and social sciences. The University of Missouri offers bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.
The University of Missouri at Columbia, commonly known as Missouri or Mizzou, is the flagship school of the University of Missouri System, a network of public institutions serving more than 60,000 students. A land-grant university, Missouri has a strong reputation as a research institution. The school also ranks 112th nationally in the 2008 report of America's Best Colleges. Among its offerings are highly regarded programs in business, architecture, education, journalism, law and the arts.
Missouri is set on more than 1,300 acres in Columbia, a progressive college town in the central part of the state. The campus is known for impressive architecture and the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Other campus highlights include first-class academic and research facilities.
The University of Missouri at Columbia offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs through 19 schools and colleges. Popular undergraduate majors include business, communications, education, engineering and social sciences.
When not studying, students enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities offered through nearly 550 campus organizations. Students also support the Tigers athletic teams competing in the Big 12 Conference which is a popular pastime.
Missouri has an undergraduate student body of 21,000. One of the 'more selective' schools in the nation, the university has an overall acceptance rate of 78 percent. Incoming students typically score in the 1070 to 1300 range on the SAT and between 23 and 28 on the ACT.
