Web Design Programs in Georgia

Aspiring web designers in Georgia can find nine schools that offer training programs in the field. Certificate, diploma and associate degree programs are the most commonly available. Profiled are the nine colleges in the state offering web design programs. All of these schools are part of the Technical College System of Georgia and have similar curricula.

Central Georgia Technical College

Macon's Central Georgia Technical College has a 39-credit certificate in web site development. This program is offered online and includes courses in scripting, information security and web graphics. Students learn about Java programming, SQL, mobile application development and Internet technologies. Like the certificate program, the 64-credit associate program includes coursework in program design, scripting, web technologies and web development, along with a general education course load. In addition to coursework, students complete a web systems project.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College

Georgia Northwestern Technical College's campuses in Rock Spring and Rocksmart offer programs in web site design. In addition to foundational web development courses, students can take electives such as Visual Basic, C# and PHP programming, web applications and interactive/social applications. The diploma and associate degree programs include basic math, English and humanities courses. While the certificate program is available at both campuses, the associate and diploma programs are only available in Rock Spring.

Gwinnett Technical College

Students at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville can start their training with a 35-credit certificate program that has courses in program design, scripting and web animation. The diploma program's 54 credits include classes such as psychology, interpersonal relations, computer concepts and project management. Undergraduates who want to pursue an associate degree can take the 64-credit Associate of Applied Science in Internet Specialist - Web Site Design program, which examines areas such as communication, statistics, art appreciation and web systems and includes a web systems project.

Lanier Technical College

The Oakwood campus of Lanier Technical College offers a two-semester certificate, four-semester diploma and five-semester associate degree. All programs are offered through the computer information systems department. General education courses are complemented by training in SQL, web animation and web development. Courses can be taken during the day or evening, and some classes are available online.

Moultrie Technical College

Undergraduates at Moultrie Technical College can choose between diploma and associate degree programs in web design at both the Moultrie and Tifton locations. The 54-credit diploma and 64-credit Associate of Applied Science programs cover basic computer and programming skills. Attendees can round out their education with courses in literature, economics, sociology and composition.

Southeastern Technical College

Aspiring web designers can choose from certificate, diploma or associate degree programs at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. In the certificate program, students learn about SQL, scripting and web technologies. The diploma program introduces computer concepts and general education courses, while the associate program adds classes such as literature, economics and public speaking. Candidates for the 66-credit associate degree must complete a capstone project or internship in the field.

Southern Crescent Technical College

Griffin's Southern Crescent Technical College offers a 35-credit certificate, 54-credit diploma and 64-credit associate program that include courses in C#, PHP and Java programming. Within these computer information technology division programs, students also can learn about mobile and web applications, interactive applications and open source programming. In the associate degree program, students have the option of completing a three-credit web systems project or CIST internship.

West Georgia Technical College

West Georgia Technical College, located in Waco, covers topics such as XHMTL, program design, web graphics, SQL and internet security through its certificate program in web site development. Undergraduates learn to use Microsoft and Adobe software packages to design and implement web pages. This program is offered through the computer information systems department, which has seven faculty members.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in Valdosta has diploma and associate degree programs in web design. Both programs feature coursework in computer concepts, program development, web development, web animation, information security and web graphics. Students can also take classes in mathematical modeling, quantitative skills and humanities. The diploma program can be completed online, while the degree program is only available on campus.
