- Front Range Community College's Larimer Campus is located about six miles from downtown Fort Collins. A variety of welding certificates, in addition to an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology degree are available.
- Pikes Peak Community College, situated about seven miles south of downtown Colorado Springs, offers certificates in specific welding skills, in addition to an Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology.
Front Range Community College
Front Range Community College (FRCC) is 2-year school accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer certificates and associate degrees in a wide range of fields. In the recently renovated shop on the school's Larimer campus, Front Range Community College students can train for a variety of technical skills in welding. While the welding program is based in Larimer, some welding courses are also offered at the Brighton, Colorado campus.
Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate
This welding program entails a total of eight credits in introductory and gas metal arc (MIG) welding techniques. These courses also apply towards a student's associate's degree in welding.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Certificate
Offered at the Larimer campus, the gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) certificate is comprised of two welding courses. In addition to the certificate, these courses are also part of the associate of applied science program in welding technology.
Oxyacetylene Welding Certificate
Using plasma oxyfuel and plasma cutting technologies to manipulate metal is the focus of this 4-credit program. The oxyacetylene program courses also apply to the school's welding associate's degree.
Pipe Code Welding Certificate
Pipe welders have their own certification process through the state of Colorado. This three-class program encompasses two courses on practical pipe welding and a final course devoted solely to certification preparation. Students also earn a certificate from the Front Range Community College.
Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology
Students enrolled in the associate's program in welding engage in a rounded curriculum, in addition to learning a variety of welding methods. This 60-credit curriculum covers gas metal arc, oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding methods. The school also requires that welding students take courses in conceptual physics, manufacturing communication, blueprint reading, technical writing, mathematics and more.
Pikes Peak Community College
Operating since 1968, the Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs is a 2-year institution with over 125 programs of study. Among these programs is an associate's degree in welding as well as specific certificates in various welding specialties.
Structural Welding Certificate
This introductory certificate combines certificate course requirements with classes in Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc (MIG) welding techniques. Course requirements for all certificates entail 17 credits of oxyacetylene welding, plasma cutting, blueprint reading, structural welding and career math.
Pipe Welding Certificate
The Pipe Welding certificate is a 25-credit program requiring eight credits of pipe welding skills training. This is on top of the 25 requisite credits necessary for any certificate program at Pikes Peak.
Combination Pipe, Structural and Advance Processes Certificate
This certificate program provides the same welding training as the pipe and structural certificate program, but includes eight more credits in advanced MIG and TIG welding techniques. As with all certificates, this program requires an additional 17 general welding credits.
Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology
The associate's degree program includes all of the welding skills covered at the Pikes Peak Community College and skills in related fields. The program has an open-entry and open-exit policy, which gives student the opportunity to drop out at any time and re-enroll later to complete the degree.
