Essential Information

Two community colleges and one university in New Hampshire offer welding training. Studies are offered through undergraduate certificate and associate degree programs. Depending on the school, certificate programs require students to complete 19-32 credit hours. Credits earned for a certificate may be applied toward an associate degree.

Career Requirements

Although certification isn't required by the state, employers prefer to hire welders who have been certified by the American Welding Society (AWS). A candidate for certification is required to perform a sound weld for an AWS-certified weld inspector. This weld must be deposited according to the guidelines described in the AWS welding procedure specification. After becoming certified, welders must maintain their certification by submitting a certification maintenance form every 6 months. Overviews of the school welding programs in New Hampshire are provided below, along with tuition and school info.
