Community College of Allegheny County

Established in 1966, the Community College of Allegheny County has an annual enrollment of more than 62,000 credit and non-credit students. Day and evening classes in this school's welding programs are conducted at the West Hills Center on the North Campus in suburban McCandless, Pennsylvania.

Welding Technology Certificate

The 18-credit certificate program prepares students for entry-level positions in welding. The curriculum provides fundamental and advanced courses in welding. Blueprint reading, blazing, and several types of arc welding are also addressed. Students who complete this program are eligible to take the certification exam given by the American Welding Society.

Associate of Science in Welding Technology

The Associate of Science (A.S.) program prepares students for advanced or supervisory positions in welding. Program coursework covers basic and advanced pipe welding, welding basics, inspection, safety and flux-core arc welding. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take several types of welding certification exams.

Delaware County Community College

Delaware County Community College was founded in 1967 and has locations in both Delaware and Chester counties. Approximately 11,000 students are enrolled in DCCC's certificate and associate's degree programs.

Certificate of Competency in Welding

Many of the courses offered in this 28-credit program combine lectures, demonstrations and hands-on labs. Students receive instruction and practice in several welding methods, such as shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and oxy-fuel welding. Cutting techniques and safety procedures are also covered. Elective courses can be taken in welding design, welding codes, inspection or soldering.
