West Coast Universities and Colleges

California, Oregon and Washington are considered the states that make up the West Coast area of the country. The three universities with the highest student enrollment include the University of Washington - Seattle Campus, University of California - Los Angeles and California State University - Long Beach. The Western Association of Universities and Colleges accredits all three universities.

University of Washington - Seattle Campus

In addition to its main campus in Seattle, the University of Washington operates two campuses on the West Coast, located in Bothell and Tacoma, Washington. Through 18 colleges and schools, the university offers 250 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs. Some popular degree programs include communications, political science, biology and economics. Non-native English speakers can enroll in the university's International Education Outreach program, which offers certificate programs to help individuals improve English skills.

University of California - Los Angeles

The University of California - Los Angeles offers 118 undergraduate and 200 graduate degree programs. Popular areas of study include economics, biology, English, psychology, political science and history. Students have access to a library that houses 8.2 million volumes. UCLA operates 11 professional schools and a College of Letters and Sciences. The university's location on the West Coast draws many aspiring film students to its School of Theater, Film and Television.

California State University - Long Beach

With a 322-acre campus overlooking the Pacific Ocean, California State University - Long Beach attracts many students from the West Coast and beyond. In 2010, the U.S. News & World Report ranked CSULB as one of the top five public universities in the Western United States. Students may select a major from one of the university's eight colleges. Nursing, accounting, public administration, social work and marketing are popular areas of study. The university offers 37 educational credentialing programs, 159 undergraduate degree programs, 101 master's degree programs and one doctoral degree program.
