Over the years, the university's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications has been responsible for overseeing the Peabody Award, for excellence in radio and television. Through this top broadcast journalism school, students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a specialization in broadcast news. Individuals interested in broadcast journalism can also pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a focus in telecommunication arts, which incorporates broadcast news, electronic media and production training.

2. Columbia University in the City of New York

As of 2010, Columbia University ranked eighth among all colleges in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report. What's more, the Journalism School at Columbia is the administrator for a national broadcast journalism award (the Alfred I. du-Pont - Columbia University Award), which has been granted to such industry notables as ABC News, CNN and NPR. At the Journalism School, students can enroll in a year-long Master of Science in Journalism program, which offers concentrations in television or radio broadcast journalism. In order to gain hands-on experience, broadcast journalism students are able to work on school productions, such as Columbia News Tonight and Uptown Radio.
